Trendspotting
In february 2008 the modelectoraat developed for VPRO television a concept a fifty minutes programme of the Paris Fashion Show. Now luxury brands are dominating the fashion business it is hard for young designers to make a career as an independent designer. KNBLO
This year the KNBLO held its hundred year anniversary. Students of the masterprogramme Fashion, Design and Strategy prepared in cooperation with the modelectoraat a fashion show on history of walking clothes. 4 April Paleis ‘t Loo, Apeldoorn.
A L’exterieur: Rites de Passage
Eric de Kuyper and José Teunissen developed an exhibition concept on the flaneur for Marres, Maastricht. They selected texts from Baudelaire, Georges Perec, Virginia Woolf, Frans Kessel and others who tried to evoke the experience of strolling in the modern city as Paris, Berlin, London, New York and The Hague. For this exhibition Marres was transformed in a passage, meanwhile fragments of texts filled the space. A selection of film fragments in the lobby upstairs visually illustrated the position of the flaneur as a figure who dwells in the modern city. Op de huid geblazen
The glasblazerij Leerdam invited fashion and accessory designers to realize objects in glass that had some relation to the body. Modelectoraat ArtEZ advised in the selection of designers. Walter van Beirendonck, Naomi Filmer, Berend Strik, Joanneke Meester, Alexander van Slobbe made glassobjects. Besides students product design of ArtEZ BA were invited to take part in this project. They participated in a workshop by the artist Naomi Filmer who was invited by the modelectoraat. The final results were presented in the exhibition Op de huid geblazen presented in Fort Asperen June 13 till September 2008.
Class of 2008/ Lichting 2008
During the Amsterdam International Fashion week lecturers at the Netherlands’ fashion academies chose their 20 most promising graduates to participate in Lichting 2008. The young designers presented their work on the catwalk on 24 July before a select audience of influential professionals and journalists at Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek. After the show, José Teunissen, a lecturer at ArtEZ, the Arnhem Academy of Art and Design, and curator and blogger Diane Pernet commented on the show and discussed Dutch fashion trends. Journalist Bregje Lampe facilitated the discussion.

Seminar: Inside the House of Viktor & Rolf
In close cooperation with the Premsela Stichting the ArtEZ modelectoraat composed a seminar afternoon on the work of Viktor & Rolf in Barbican London during their exhibition Inside the house of Viktor & Rolf.. Presentations by scholars Judith Clark, Ulrich Lehmann and José Teunissen and an interview with Viktor & Rolf by Penny Martin.
