H+F Fashion Award 2009 Charles LeDray: MENS SUITS exhibition Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen 21 November 2009 - 10 January 2010
This year the American artist Charles LeDray (Seattle, 1960) is the recipient of the H+F Fashion Award. The prize includes the presentation of LeDray's existing project MENS SUITS in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam until 10 January 2010. The H+ F Fashion on the Edge foundation delivers the biennial prize for exceptional work by a designer or artist working at the boundary of fashion and art.

Gone with the Wind
From the renewed interest in traditional Dutch Costumes and arts and crafts, guest curators Alexander van Slobbe and Francisco van Benthum selected over fifty Dutch designers, stylist fashion photographers and fashion illustrators who draw inspiration from their Dutch roots for an exhibition in the Zuiderzee museum in Enkhuizen. The show will run from 22 March till 22 november 2009. José Teunissen is as curator fashion responsible for the new purchases in the collection, the magazine and the project.

Book: No References on Christoph Coppens.
In 2007 the Belgian accessory designer Christophe Coppens won the first H + F Fashion on the Edge Award: a price of 20.000 euro initiated by the art collector Han Nefkens. The results of the commission will be shown in November in Platform 21 in Amsterdam. www.platform21.nl) Christophe Coppens will present an installation of accessories were he tries to make products that have no references at all. At this moment the ArtEZ modelectoraat works in cooperation with H + F fashion on the Edge and ArtEZ press on a book that documents work process. The book will also give insight in the background of collector Han Nefkens and the career of Christophe Coppens till now.
The book is published by d’jonge Hond/ArtEZ press and has been launched at platform 21 on January 18 in 2009.

Mina Perhonen: Fashion and design 24 October 2009 – 28 February 2010 Audax Textielmuseum, Tilburg
The work of the Japanese fashion and textile designer Akira Minagawa (minä perhonen) can best be described as timeless, whimsical and with a great deal of feeling for minute details. In his work Akira Minagawa is continuously looking for the boundaries of what is technically achievable. That results in fine details that are hidden as small surprises in his clothing and fabrics. Using various weaving, printing and embroidery machines, he combines old and new techniques in a wayward manner.

Fashion and Art: Fashion and Imagination. Publication Following the Power of Fashion and Fashion & Accessories the modelectoraat ArtEZ (editors Jan Brand and José Teunissen) intend to make an anthology of one of the actual themes in Fashion: the relation between Art and Fashion.
Fashion and Imagination: art and Fashion explains why fashion became more and more conceptual and experimental during the last thirty years and is adapting more elements from art. What do art and fashion have in common? How and why are the two worlds melting? With contributions from Gilles Lipovetsky, Barbara Vinken, Ulrich Lehmann, Luca Marchetti and others.
